Music Moment: The Tiny Plant Room
There are moments where you discover new or familiar art, and the creative expression behind it uniquely resonates. This is about that feeling.
Musical collabs used to be a big part of my life. Typically, I’d play piano and accompany friends who would take centre stage as the vocalist. It was a fun time.
So when I stumbled upon The Tiny Plant Room on Instagram, a place for “music with friends,” I paid attention. It brought back memories, and I was drawn to the simplicity of the page and concept.

This weekend, Monette (guitarist, vocalist, and owner of The Tiny Plant Room) posted a cover of Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper / Iron & Wine) in collaboration with Alexxis Lemire and Veronica Merrell-Burriss. Listening to their cover gave me that indescribable feeling and sense of connection. While I knew the song, I wasn’t familiar with all three individuals — yet their art resonated.

I think they combined their talents and passion to create and share something special. I especially enjoyed the way their voices blend and complement each other during harmonies, as well as Alexxis’ tone in the chorus.
I also loved the way the video finishes with an authentic moment celebrating the take. It’s encompassing of all that The Tiny Plant Room says it is:
